How To Create A Traditional And Modern Look For Interiors

Blending together different interior styles is one of the fun parts of interior design, as far as I am concerned there are no two style that cannot be brought together to create a beautiful home. This is a really important part of our service for our clients as, more often then not, people (yes even long and happily married people!) do not always agree on interior design.  So we are often asked to bring together differing styles to create a look  that will work for both parties.

Recently we were asked to bring together the more traditional and the more modern, with a huge nod towards the classical - a beautiful design scheme was born.  Here are a few of our favourite pieces!

These mirrors are SO gorgeous - From the wonderful Omelo I fell in love with these mirrors the instant they sent me through a tweet on twitter! At £220 a pop they are going to be a gorgeous feature in the living/dining area.

Next up are these beautiful poufs from The French Bedroom Company.  Again they are an absolute steal at £165 and are going to be fantastic extra seating in the lounge area and also work as a great footstool for our window seat.

Next up is a little more of a modern coffee table, the H coffee table by Andrew Martin is such a fantastic piece and is a real investment buy.  With two growing boys in the house the coffee table can often be a place for many a play date so we needed to pick something that would be hard-wearing and embrace the possibility that it might get a few nicks on it over time. Well worth the £995 price tag.

One of the big asks was also for a comfortable sofa - it had to be a sofa you would want to curl up and watch a DVD in but it was not to have a cushion back as we wanted to ass quite a few cushions in to the design ourselves. For us the most perfect sofa for size, comfort and availablity of colours was without a doubt Sofa Workshop's Miss Clementine.   However, unfortunately they don't have a picture of the colour or size we will be using so for now you will have to use your imagination that this is almost 2m long and is in a gloriously soft almond coloured velvet (can you see it?)

We also have a gorgeous bespoke rug that will be a real centre piece under that gorgeous coffee table.  We will be devoting an entire blog post to how and why we chose the colours we did!

What do you think of the design so far? Anything you would change?
