Interior Designer Life - Tiles & Talk

What's been going on this week at Kia Designs and in the world of Interior Design in London. We are here to answer that question with our weekly round up.

Tiles Patterns

Working out with your contractor that this tile pattern both is and isn't important. This was always going to be a star pattern but we didn't want it to dominate the first line as you came in to the room. Better that it's more central in the room.

I adore being able to go through new designs with clients, seeing what parts gel and what needs to be adjusted. This design was particularly challenging. It doesn't have any building works and so it required us to work within the limitations of the current layout of the property. It's come together really well and the clients were extremely patient going through everything late on a Wednesday night. Talk about a long hump day!

We will be breaking down this design in a lot more detail over the next few weeks so stay tuned if the colours are something that appeals. You may notice a few of these colours from our post on Dulux's colour of the year, Denim Drift, the palette is part of their new scheme that they will be launching for next year. Exclusive colours for our clients!

Catching up with Houzz clients

This weekend at Design Junction I was asked to help out clients who are looking for a push in the right direction for their projects. We very rarely offer free advice as it can be so difficult to give people good advice with so little information and without going through our 'client inspiration' process however Houzz offered us a great way to be able to interact with fans and we didn't want to disappoint.

With a full brief from the clients, a list of things they were struggling with and a bunch of Houzz books to look through we felt that we would be able to provide as much value as possible in our 30min or 1hr (competition winner!) slot. it was great fun and catching up with clients again this week has been fantastic, they were great and perfectly prepared for the

Award announcements

We have also been lucky enough to be announced as one of 3 finalists for the "Under £15k Bathroom" category in the Designer Kitchen and Bathroom Awards 2016!

We are delighted to have our Knightsbridge project receive so much praise by both our client and the industry.  We will keep you all in the loop - the awards ceremony is on the 9th November.
